As an enthused fan of the "Gartenbahn (Spur G)", I'd like to present you my model railroad layout on this website. It is arranged in a cellar room (size ~ 20 sqm) in my house since summer 2017 and at the moment, I'm occupied with the reconstruction. After having spent the last 20 years in Coesfeld, I moved to Münster in North-Rhine-Westphalia with my family. Here in my new home, there are more possibilities for my railroad. The house comes with a big cellar room and a large garden. But first of all, I'm going to focus on the reconstruction of the model railroad layout in the interior room. I've been a fan of the "LGB-Bahn" since my childhood. In 1974, I got a goods train starter set as a christmas present. In the following years, many other coaches like e.g. the green coach 3010 with a black barrel-shaped roof (rarely), a matra crane truck came along as well as my second locomotive, the "Schoema 2060H". At that time, I had never thought that I would be able to steer these locomotives digital with my smartphone 45 years later. I wish I had had the opportunity to steer umpteen trains at once in the past because I really like watching my coaches and locomotives driving at night with nice lighting.
Reconstruction of my model railroad layout 2018 / 2019:
The stereoscopic illustration below shows the planned new model railroad layout. It will be composed of two different levels, one called "Schattenbahnhof" and the main level. Visit my blog for getting the latest information about the reconstruction in 2018 and other interesting topics.
I've documented the most important phases of the construction on this homepage. I took photos of most of the changes, they can be seen in the picture gallery. In 2012, a big rebuilding of the rail track and the control technique took place. I decided to change the manual steerage to a digital steerage and I built a double-tracked line. Moreover I reworked my mountain route. Many details like e.g. the passengers in the trains could be watched very well. Two remarkable bridges , one made of aluminium and the other one made of wood with a span length of 1200mm and 1800mm were constructed above two precipices. I had found these bridges online on ebay.
In 2015, I reconstructed my railroad layout again. It was made up of three levels, including a 'Schattenbahnhof' and a mountain route which should connect the cellar room with the garden one day.
In 2017, I had the possibility to move to Münster in a larger house. Now I have to start again from the beginning but I'm sure it will be exciting and nice anyway!
